SWOSU Student Organizations Receive $76,870 in Funding

Student organizations at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford have received funding for the 2019-20 academic year.

The SWOSU Allocations Committee, coordinated through the Dean of Students office, was comprised of 22 students. The committee had over $238,193 in requests and gave out $76,870.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the student staff that organized the event as well as the student organizations and their requests from the university to support their events,” said SWOSU Dean of Students Joshua Engle. “Supporting campus engagement, diversity and leadership development are at the center of why we provide allocations funding.”

Student Parker Howl, chair of the committee, said the best part of the allocations process is that it gives student organizations the opportunity to help make SWOSU a better place and represent SWOSU at a national level by various groups.

At the hearings, students rotated the chair position with each club that came before the committee, so every committee member chaired several hearings.  Students create and execute a list of stock questions asked at every hearing. Plus, they also “employee active listened” and created new questions for each group.
