Three Big Days of Events Planned February 5-7 at SWOSU

Three big days of events featuring a well-known author and the 50th anniversary of a jazz festival are planned February 5-7 on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.

The public is invited to all the events.

On Wednesday, February 5, author Nicholas Sparks will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center. Sparks is a best-selling author of The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and 18 other books. He is the author of 19 New York Times #1 bestselling books.

His talk at SWOSU is co-sponsored by the Western Plains Library System and SWOSU Panorama Series. Remaining tickets are $15 and $5 with all other tickets sold out. Tickets are available online at stubwire: https://share.swosu.edu/Nicholas-Sparks or in the SWOSU Public Relations & Marketing office (Room 205 of the Hays Administration Building). For additional information, call 580.774.3063.

The SWOSU Jazz Festival is celebrating its golden anniversary with two big days of music on Thursday and Friday, February 6-7.  Headliner for the event is the world-renowned Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band of California.

There are several concerts during the two days and the entire schedule as well as ticket information is available at swosujazz.com.

In addition, 38 high school and college jazz bands—one of the largest groups in the history of the SWOSU Jazz Festival—will participate in the festival.

The SWOSU Jazz Festival is presented by the SWOSU Department of Music in conjunction with the City of Weatherford, Oklahoma Arts Council and Weatherford Arts Council.
