AASA's Lunar New Year Event Planned Feb. 25 at SWOSU
The Asian American Student Association (AASA) is hosting its annual Lunar New Year Festival on Tuesday, February 25, on the Weatherford campus.
The free event is open to everyone.
AASA is partnering with the Movie Club to show a feature film that will begin at 6:20 p.m. The AASA plans to start serving a free meal at 6 p.m. with such items as ramen and quail eggs, sausage weenies, vegetables, corn and soft tofu. All food is first come, first serve in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom.
Several fun events are planned during the evening:
- Mua Lan Performance- 7-7:15
- Fan Dance Performance – 7:15-7:25
- Spicy Ramen Challenge – 7:25-7:35
- Fear Factor – 7:35-7:55
- Speed Card Game Tournament – 7:55-8:15
- Announcement of winners and prizes – 8:15-8:30
- 8:30-9:30 – Finish the movie
Alina Pham, public relations manager for AASA, said everyone can participate in a polaroid station and purchase Chinatown snacks during the fun events. There will also be free Thai tea.
For the competitions, first place gets $30 and second and third place winners get special plushies. There are still open slots available for the Asian Fear Factor Food challenge, Spicy Ramen Noodle Challenge, and the Speed Card Game tournament.
