Alma Mater Merc is Name of New Store Coming to SWOSU
Nearly 1,500 students submitted approximately 3,000 names for a new Southwestern Oklahoma State University bookstore and convenience store, and the winning name is Alma Mater Merc.
The name was submitted by SWOSU student Taylor Peters, and she won her choice of an Apple or Dell product up to $1,300 or a $1,300 tuition waiver.
Alma Mater Merc will come to fruition this summer in Mann Hall on the SWOSU campus. Ashley Hancock is director of the new store.
Winning second place in the contest and his choice of an Apple or Dell product up to $650 or a $650 tuition waiver is Clay Jacobs, who submitted the name “1901.”
Winning third place and her choice of an Apple or Dell product up to $300 or a $300 tuition waiver is Farron Sheffield, who submitted the name “The Vim.”
The winning names were announced at SWOSU’s home basketball games held on February 27.
