SWOSU Digital Commons Downloads Surpass Quarter-Million Mark

As the SWOSU Digital Commons reaches its four-year anniversary, downloads for the entire collection have surpassed the quarter-million mark for the institutional repository at Southwestern Oklahoma State University with locations in Weatherford and Sayre.

The entire collection of 18,531 items have had a total of 250,779 downloads in 203 countries as of March 1, 2020.  The collection opened on March 7, 2016.

Major collections in the repository include:

  • SWOSU journals and publications -- 4,096 items downloaded 93,125 times in 194 countries.
  • Faculty and student research, including entries in the SWOSU Research and Scholarly Activity Fair -- 326 works downloaded 18,108 times in more than 200 countries.
  • University history and productions -- 10,849 items downloaded 31,734 times in 129 countries. The university is in the midst of adding more collections to the digital repository representing the history and activities of SWOSU and of a few external organizations.

A remodeling project currently under way on the second floor of the Al Harris Library at the SWOSU Weatherford campus will house the General Thomas P. Stafford archival collection.  Stafford is a retired NASA astronaut and a Weatherford native.
