Soloist and Group Take Top Honors in SWOSU Bulldog Blitz Talent Show

Soloist La’ren Ballard of Houston (TX) and the group—Cousin Brody and the Idiots—were the top winners at the recent Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldog Blitz Talent Show held on the Weatherford campus.

Ballard won first place and $1,000 for her solo “At Last” by Etta James. Cousin Brody and the Idiots won second place and $500 for their performance of “Country Roads” by John Denver. Members of the group are Amy White, Tipton; Jake Kimmel, Yukon; Brody Hedges, Seiling; Natalie Kinder, Arapaho; and Victor Do, Norman.

Auditions for the talent show were held in February and narrowed to 10 finalist acts that performed at the March 5 show. At intermission, the crowd was entertained by a masked talent performance by SWOSU Chief of Police Kendra Brown.

Hosts for the evening were SWOSU 2019 Homecoming King Jordan Valenzuela and Miss SWOSU Natalee Karcher. Judges for the evening were Brian Adler, Alyssa Bane, Randy Beutler, Todd Boyd and Kendra Brown.

The talent show was sponsored by the Collegiate Activities Board—led by Chloe Turlington and Breanna Jones—and SWOSU Student Services.
