Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Connor Slattery of Weatherford was selected to represent SWOSU at the 2020 Oklahoma Research Day at the Capitol in Oklahoma City.

But, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, the 25th annual event for Oklahoma’s legislators was cancelled.

Slattery, a student of Dr. Rickey Cothran in the Department of Biological Sciences, was selected by the University Research and Scholarly Activity Committee, chaired by Dr. Lisa Appeddu and facilitated by the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Slattery was one of 22 undergraduate students representing 16 Oklahoma colleges and universities who were identified to participate in the prestigious event, which is designed to raise awareness of the outstanding undergraduate research that is taking place at Oklahoma’s colleges and universities.

Slattery’s research project focused on water quality.

Research Day is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Oklahoma NSF Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
