SWOSU’s Sweeney Talks Innovate Partnerships at PLA
Southwestern Oklahoma State University Assistant Professor Dr. Karen Sweeney recently attended the Public Lands Alliance (PLA) conference in Arlington (VA).
The conference brings together all federal agencies, state agencies, the public/private sector and many other partners.
Sweeney’s computer science capstone course has worked with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Tulsa District, for two years. The students create applications and projects that can improve USACE’s processes. Sweeney said the USACE has chosen to move forward with several of SWOSU students’ capstone projects.
Her presentation at the conference was about the partnership that has formed with SWOSU’s computer science students and USACE. She participated in the “Coffee and Case Studies” session, which was something new this year. The team’s presentation—Innovating with Partners—drew a packed audience.
Also attending the conference was Nancy Rogers and Pep Persio from the USACE Foundation.
