AAUW/Weatherford Branch Hosting Holiday Party this Thursday

AAUW@SWOSU student officers Cortney Everett (vice president, back row far left) and Jamee Parker (president, back row far right) recently worked with four SWOSUServes volunteers (Loren Coleman, Kaiten Hamilin, Lilybet Harmon and Sarah Sarabia) and the AAUW/Weatherford branch to give away breast cancer awareness items at the SWOSU residence halls.

The Weatherford branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) invites local women and college students to attend their holiday party on Thursday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m.

The event features a potluck dinner and “dirty Santa” gift exchange, which promises plenty of fun and fellowship. For more information and directions to the event location, contact branch President Karen Sweeney ( or 580-774-3117).

Other Fall 2021 activities included a garage sale fundraiser to support college scholarships, donating breast cancer awareness items to place in SWOSU residence halls, and a luncheon meeting.  The college student branch (AAUW@SWOSU) worked with the Weatherford branch and SWOSUServes to carry out the annual breast cancer awareness event.

The American Association of University Women is a non-profit organization that advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.  AAUW membership is open to all individuals who have completed a college/university degree (associate, bachelor or professional).  Current college students are eligible for a free student e-affiliate membership. The AAUW Weatherford branch meets once each month, September through April, to conduct educational, community service and social activities.

For more information about joining AAUW, contact branch Treasurer Regina McGrane ( or 580-774-3046) or check out the AAUW, Weatherford branch Facebook page.  For more information about the college student branch, contact sponsor Lori Gwyn ( or 580-774-7010) or check out their Facebook page at AAUW@SWOSU.
