Dr. Adam Johnson Named Vice President for Student Affairs at SWOSU

Dr. Adam Johnson of Yukon has been named vice president for student affairs at Southwestern Oklahoma State University with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon.

Johnson, a native Oklahoman raised in Kingfisher, starts his new position on May 2.

Johnson comes to SWOSU from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), where he has served as associate vice president of enrollment management since 2020. He oversaw all functions of enrollment management, including undergraduate admissions and recruitment, student financial services, the OneStop and call center, academic advisement, campus tours, registrar, student advocacy and the career development center.

He has been at UCO since 2003. Before his current position, he served as associate vice president/registrar, associate registrar, director of recruitment and scholarships, and assistant director/interim director of the Office of Prospective Student Services/Scholarships.

Johnson has also worked at Oklahoma State University (OSU).

“The university looks forward to Dr. Johnson’s arrival in the SWOSU community,” President Dr. Diana Lovell said. “We are thrilled he is joining the SWOSU administration and confident he will do an outstanding job leading our division of student services.”

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UCO and earned his doctorate in higher education leadership from OSU.

Johnson has served as chair/president of several professional associations and has been active in many committees on the UCO campus.

Johnson’s wife, Carolyn, is a school counselor for Yukon Public Schools.
