Johnny and Judy Beech Make Major Gift to SWOSU
Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon has announced the establishment of the Johnny & Judy Beech Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The fund has been endowed by a generous philanthropic investment from two longtime SWOSU supporters, Johnny and Judy Beech of Oklahoma City. Both Beeches are undergraduate alumni of SWOSU.
The Johnny & Judy Beech Endowed Scholarship Fund will provide much-needed financial support to SWOSU students studying in the disciplines of management, accounting, and parks & recreation management.
“We received strong instruction in both technical and professional skills during our years on the SWOSU Hilltop, and we are honored to now give back to our alma mater to help the Bulldogs studying there today achieve excellence and contribute to a better society,” said the Beeches.
Johnny Beech is a past president and current director of the SWOSU Alumni Association and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the SWOSU Athletic Association. He holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Laws from Tulane University.
Johnny is currently of counsel with Spencer Fane. He has more than 30 years of experience as a litigator focusing on contracts, financial services matters and trust issues. He also serves as an adjunct instructor at SWOSU.
Judy Beech is vice president & director of finance at i2E, Inc. providing leadership for financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, audit compliance and human resources for the company and its subsidiaries. She has more than 25 years healthcare experience serving as controller/director of accounting at Tulane University Hospitals, Mercy Health System Oklahoma and Integris Physician Services. She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from SWOSU; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas; and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Oklahoma.
Judy is a current member of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs- Oklahoma City Chapter and served on the chapter’s board of directors and as past president of the chapter.
The Beeches are proud parents to Whittney (Beech) Hood, who attended SWOSU prior to completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma and her Master of Business Administration at the University of Central Oklahoma; and Jordan Beech, who earned his Master of Education at SWOSU in 2015 following completion of his undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma. The Beeches are also happy, devoted grandparents of three.
“We are truly grateful to longtime SWOSU supporters Johnny and Judy Beech for their thoughtful investment in student success at SWOSU,” said SWOSU President Dr. Diana Lovell. “Private giving and volunteer engagement is crucial to meeting our mission, and Johnny and Judy have been leaders for decades in helping SWOSU expand and enhance our programs and impact.”
The Johnny & Judy Beech Endowed Scholarship Fund is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. An institutionally-related charitable entity, the Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy, award scholarships and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU. Located on the Weatherford campus in the historic Burton House, the Foundation currently stewards nearly $37 million in assets for the benefit of SWOSU.
