Glow Prom Planned Friday at SWOSU for Special Needs Community

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Student Council for Exceptional Children and Kappa Delta Pi are inviting students and adults who are part of the special needs community in western Oklahoma to the 2022 Glow Prom, which is Friday, March 4, at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on the Weatherford campus.

Glow Prom is for students in grades 7-12, adults, para-professionals and coaches who participate in Special Olympics.  The event will be held from 6-9 p.m.

Glow Prom has been designed to provide support and create community awareness. All participants will receive a free t-shirt, food, prizes to be won playing bingo, a photo booth as well as a dance floor and professional DJ to dance the night away.

“We go all out with the decorations making this a night they will not forget and rolling out the red carpet announcing each participant as they arrive and walk into the Skyview Suite at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center,” said Kendra Smith, special education program coordinator in the SWOSU Department of Education. “Our hope is that the students will come and enjoy a night of fun and entertainment that will put them in the spotlight.”

Weatherford firefighter clowns, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Miss SWOSU, the SWOSU volleyball team, SWOSU pom, SWOSU Homecoming King and Queen and the Bulldog mascot will all come to help make the night a success.

Suggested dress for the night is school appropriate attire.
