SWOSU Computer Instructor Presents Ecommerce Paper

Southwestern Oklahoma State University faculty member Mehdi Raoufi recently presented a paper titled “Ecommerce Web Development” at the Information Systems Education Conference (ISECON) in Dallas, Texas.

ISECON has been held annually since 1982 and is the largest continuously-running conference for IS education.

Raoufi is an instructor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at SWOSU. From 2001 to 2006, Raoufi has published four refereed papers in the proceedings of ISECON, and one paper in the Information Systems Education Journal.

Raoufi is scheduled to teach a course in Ecommerce Web Development during the upcoming 2007 spring semester. He highly recommends the course for all students who are interested in web technology, especially those that are majoring in CS/IS, business, MBA, or a related area.

In a national survey conducted with ISECON, 86% of the employers who hire Computer Science/Information Systems and Information Technology graduates responded that skills in web development and web technology are very important criteria in the decision to hire a graduate in these areas.

Topics at the recent ISECON included model curricula, best practices, pedagogy, program accreditation, and keeping up with technological changes.
