Christmas Concert Planned December 10 at SWOSU


The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Department of Music will present its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 10, on the Weatherford campus.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Weatherford campus.  Admission is free, and the public is invited.

To begin the concert, the University Orchestra will perform It’s Christmastime by Calvin Custer, Stille Nacht by Mannheim Steamroller, Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies by Peter Tchaikowsky, Santa’s Classical Christmas by Mark Williams, and Christmas Wishes by Bill Holcombe. The University Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Robert Chambers and Graduate Assistant Pam Yost. 

The Woodwind Ensemble will perform The Twelve Days of Christmas arranged by Bruce Howden. Keith Talley is the conductor. The Brass Ensemble, conducted by Janis South, will perform Noel by Hawley Ades.

Jazz Ensemble “A”, conducted by Talley, will perform God Rest Ye Merry Trombones, arranged by Tom Kubis; It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, arranged by John LaBarbera; and Jingle Bells, arranged by Rick Stitzel.

The Tuba/Euphonium Choir will perform Christmas selections at the beginning and end of the concert. Music Chair Dr. Terry Segress is the conductor.
