Washita Battlefield Panel Discussion This Tuesday at SWOSU


The Washita Battlefield National Historic Site, in partnership with Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, is offering a special panel discussion opportunity this Tuesday, November 28, on the SWOSU campus.

A panel composed of historians and Cheyenne tribal members will discuss multiple perspectives of the November 27, 1868 attack, including the meanings, impacts and legacies that followed. The special program is at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Union Upper Lounge.

Panel participants in this special dialogue will include historian Jerome A. Greene; Cheyenne Peace Chief Lawrence Hart; Dr. Henrietta Mann, interim president of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribal College on the SWOSU campus; and Cheyenne Chief Harvey Pratt, who is a forensic artist for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Admission is free, and the public is invited.
