SWOSU Sees Increase in First-Time Freshmen Enrollment

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s first-time freshmen enrollment is up 7.3%.

SWOSU President John Hays said the overall head count enrollment is 5,103, down 2.7% from last year. It is the sixth straight year that SWOSU has exceeded the 5,000 mark on the Weatherford and Sayre campuses.

“The economy in western Oklahoma continues to be very good and normally when that happens, it affects our enrollment,” Hays said. “We are very pleased that our first-time freshmen numbers are up significantly.”

SWOSU started classes on August 22. The 2007 fall semester ends this year on December 21. The 2008 spring semester will begin on January 10.
