SWOSU Department of Education to Host Open Forum

The Department of Education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will conduct a public forum on Tuesday, November 13, from 4-5 p.m. in Room 201 of the Education Building on the Weatherford campus.

According to SWOSU Education Department Chair Dr. Dennis Gentry, the purpose of the forum is to allow community members and public school partners to provide their input regarding teacher preparation programs at SWOSU.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Data from candidate performance indicators, certification examinations, survey results, and feedback from employers and area administrators indicate that SWOSU’s teacher candidates are well prepared and qualified to teach in Oklahoma’s schools.

“Continued feedback from our constituents and from the community are vital to program success and improvement,” Gentry said.

The public forum on November 13 will also be available by interactive video at the following sites: Western Oklahoma State College in Altus in Room ATV4; SWOSU-Sayre campus in Room 120 of the Alexander Building; and Redlands Community College in El Reno in Room MM129.

The forum is a requirement of the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation. For more information, contact Dr. Gentry at 580.774.3158.
