SWOSU Student Wins Video Contest and Plans to Help Students in Nepal

Bigyan Koirala

Bigyan Koirala, a senior mass communication and political science student at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, recently won the Ocean City YouTube Contest organized by Francis Scott Key Family Resort in Ocean City, MD.

Koirala won $1,000 and a week’s stay at the resort including other gifts from local businesses in Ocean City, a popular beach resort.

Koirala plans to spend all of the prize money helping two street kids deprived of education in Nepal, his home country. The money will provide the kids with basic needs and pay for their schooling for an entire year. This is part of his plan to initiate a project on January 1, 2008, called “Bigyan’s Dream” when he wishes to help several other children in providing them with basic necessities until they graduate out of high school.

He currently serves as news editor and photographer for SWOSU’s newspaper, The Southwestern, and media encoder for the athletics department. He has worked with SWOSU Auxiliary Services since 2004.
