Rock Climbing Competition Planned Thursday at SWOSU

SWOSU’s Wellness Center the Student Government Association is hosting its second annual bouldering competition this Thursday, April 17, on the Weatherford campus.

The rock climbing event will be held from 2-11 p.m. in the Wellness Center. The competition is for anyone who is a SWOSU student, whether they have climbed before or not. The beginner class is specifically designed for people who have never climbed at all, according to Morgan McNeill.

A signup list is at the Wellness Center. There will be men’s and women’s divisions with subdivisions of beginner, intermediate and advanced. Prize money for winners is $40 for beginners, $60 for intermediate and $100 for advanced level.

McNeill said there may even be a grand finale Dyno Competition, where competitors jump long distances between certain holds on the wall.

McNeill said there will also be a drawing that people can buy a $3 ticket to win prizes like gift cards and Redbull. Also, Redbull will be there handing out free drinks during the competition.

All money raised will to the SGA’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life team.
