Folds to Present SWOSU Senior Tuba Recital


Southwestern Oklahoma State University senior Lane Folds of Duncan will present his senior tuba recital this Saturday, April 19, on the Weatherford campus.

The recital, sponsored by the SWOSU Music Department, is at 3 p.m. in Room 101 of the Ed and Winnie Ola Berrong Music Building. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

Folds is a tuba performance and music education major at SWOSU. He will be performing Concert No. 3 for Oboe and Strings by G.F. Handel; Konzert Nr. 2 by Alexej Lebedjew; the Aria O Isis und Osiris by W.A. Mozart; Concerto for Bass Tuba by Ralph Vaughan Williams; and Suite No. 1 for Tuba and Piano (“Effie Suite”) by Alec Wilder.  Accompanying Folds on piano will be Dr. Terry Segress.

He is a 2004 graduate of Duncan High School and is the son of Don and Jan Folds, now residing in Houston, Texas.  Folds is also a student of Dr. Terry Segress of the SWOSU music faculty.

He is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, national honorary fraternity for college band members, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a national music fraternity for furthering music.  He is also a member of SWOSU’s MENC/OMEA chapter and a member of the Hinton Lodge of Freemasons.
