Miss SWOSU Heads to Miss Oklahoma Pageant

Miss SWOSU Bobbi Poff of Elk City and Oklahoma Stars Reagan Tuck (left) and Addison Cate Duerksen, both of Weatherford, will represent Southwestern Oklahoma State University at the upcoming Miss Oklahoma Pageant. The trio modeled their dresses at a recent sendoff party hosted by the Miss SWOSU Pageant board at the home of Debbie Brown. The two young girls are participating in the Oklahoma Star mentoring program, which is designed to expose girls from ages 6-11 to outstanding young women as role models.

Pageant board members and guests gathered for lunch, and Poff modeled outfits that she will be wearing at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant May 31-June 7 in Tulsa. Bobbi Poff of Elk City will represent Southwestern Oklahoma State University at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant, which is May 31-June 7 in Tulsa. 

Poff won the title of Miss SWOSU last fall on the Weatherford campus. She will be among 42 contestants vying for the Miss Oklahoma title.

The 20-year-old junior majoring in speech communication will compete in the Omega group at Miss Oklahoma. For her talent on Wednesday evening, she will sing “If My Friends Could See Me Now”.

Poff will also compete throughout the week in other preliminary competitions including interview on Tuesday morning, on-stage question and evening wear on Thursday night, swimsuit on Friday evening. The finals will be Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center in Tulsa. The winner of the pageant advances to the Miss America Pageant.

Poff’s platform issue is “Smoking Stinks.”

Also accompanying Poff to this year’s pageant will be six-year-old Reagan Tuck and seven-year-old Addison Cate Duerksen, who are Oklahoma Stars for the Miss SWOSU Pageant. The Oklahoma Star mentoring program is designed to expose girls from ages 6-11 to outstanding young women as role models.

Tuck is the daughter of Shawn and Tina Tuck of Weatherford. She just finished the first grade. In her spare time, Tuck enjoys crafts, playing basketball, piano and jumping on the trampoline.

Duerksen is the daughter of Jack and Kim Duerksen. She also just finished the first grade at Burcham Elementary in Weatherford. Duerksen enjoys horses and dance.  

SWOSU’s annual pageant in 2008 will be October 25 on the Weatherford campus.
