AAUW Plans Opening 2008-09 Meeting


Weatherford’s chapter of the American Association of University Women will have its first meeting of the 2008-09 year on Saturday, August 23, on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus.

AAUW Membership is open to all individuals who have completed a college/university degree (associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate). Current college students are eligible for student affiliate membership.

The August 23 meeting is from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the SWOSU Conference Center, located at the corner of Seventh and Davis Streets. Normally the AAUW Weatherford Branch will meet on the third Thursday of most months, October through April.

The August AAUW meeting will include a brief program, food and fellowship. Jaci Nuttle has been invited to share information from the National Conference of College Women Student Leaders.  And, Faye Henson, AAUW/OK State co-president, will give an update on AAUW current events and play a short DVD introducing Linda Hallman, the new AAUW executive director.  Plans will also be shared for programs for the upcoming year, and  members will organize for the smoothie booth fundraising event at the Weatherford Arts Festival.

To support members or prospective members who have families, childcare will be provided during the meeting.

A light brunch will be provided by the hostesses for the meeting: Pat Meyer, Laura Endicott, Patsy Parker, Cindy Foust, Debbie Brown and Faye Henson.
