SWOSU Players to Present Circus Olympus at New Hilltop Theatre

The SWOSU Players of Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Communication and Theatre kick off the inaugural season of the brand new SWOSU Hilltop Theatre with a production that will please audiences of all ages.

Circus Olympus will be staged October 9-11 with nightly performances at 7:30 p.m. on the Weatherford campus.

While Circus Olympus is marketed as a children’s theatre production, director Steve Strickler said the show is actually entertaining across all age groups.

“I think that the energy, enthusiasm, and silliness of the circus performers are appealing to very young children, while the adult audience can laugh at those same antics and be enthralled with the re-telling of some very familiar Greek myths.” Strickler said.

The plot line showcases a group of circus performers who have made it their life mission to share Greek myths under the title they’ve given themselves—Circus Olympus.

Twenty-five SWOSU students are involved in the production. The SWOSU Players consist of Rusty Edwards, Kingfisher; Tanner Fisher, Calumet; Ariana Farris, Fay; Bethany Schmidt, Enid; Morganne Mathews, Geary; Kayla Argo, Plains KS; Eryn Brooks, Woodward;  Cody Carnahan, Sayre;  Shanna Clark, Marlow; Chad Gray, Weatherford; Rachel Giacometti, Weatherford; Mindy Herb, Fort Worth TX; Ashley Howard, Fort Worth TX; Cierra Musick Jennings, Weatherford;  Jamie King, Fairview; Rachel Langley, Fort Worth TX;  Riley McCallay, Hammon; Casey McKay, Lone Wolf; Jess Moore, Burns Flat; Taylor Nelson, Mansfield TX; Ed Pierce, Guymon; Dayna Robinson, Altus; Tiffany Tuggle, Hollis; Lauren Turner, Elk City; and Anne Wicker, Cody NE.
