Veterans to be Honored at SWOSU Best Vets Yet Fest

Veterans Day DogArea veterans of war are being invited to a “SWOSU Best Vets Yet Fest” on Tuesday, November 11, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

SWOSU students are holding the event to express “thanks” to area veterans for their service.

Sara Morris, co-chairperson of the event with Emalee Munn, said the Collegiate Activities Board is sponsoring a dinner, discussion and other patriotic diversions at 5 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom on the SWOSU campus.

SWOSU Provost Blake Sonobe and Vice President Tom Fagan will share how experiences as a veteran helped shape their careers.

Veterans and their guest are admitted free. Cost is $10 for others who would like to attend. CAB is wanting responses by this Friday, November 7, by calling 580.774.3767.

“Parts of dinner will be red, white and blueberry,” Morris said. “In short, it will be a fun and festive evening of gratitude and grace.”

The SWOSU Singers, conducted by Skip Klingman, will perform at the event as well as soloists Dustan Morningstar and Amanda Hughes.
