SWOSU Choirs to Present February 26 Concert


The choirs of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Department of Music will present their first concert of the spring semester this Thursday, February 26, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center lobby. 

Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. 

The program will feature faculty conductors Charles "Skip" Klingman conducting Southwestern Singers, Joyce Adams Curtis conducting the SWOSU Women's Chorus, and Daniel Farris conducting the SWOSU Men's Chorus and Chamber Singers.  Student conductors Dustin Morningstar (Men's Chorus) and Emma Grosz (Chamber Singers) will make their conducting debut at the concert.

Southwestern Singers will perform works by American composer Z. Randall Stroope, Brazilian composer C. A. Pinto Fonseca, and British composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and Granville Bantock.   Chamber Singers will perform a set of three English Renaissance madrigals by Tomkins, Bennet and Wilbye. 

The Men's Chorus will feature two works by Henry Purcell and one by W. A. Mozart.  The Women's Chorus will sing a work by Johannes Brahms, and a selection each from American composers Michael Hennagin and David Brunner.  Amanda Hughes, graduate assistant, will conduct the Hennagin work.
