Two SWOSU Jazz Ensembles to Perform at November 15 Concert


Two Southwestern Oklahoma State University jazz ensembles will be featured in concert on Sunday, November 15, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Weatherford campus.

SWOSU's Jazz Ensemble "B", directed by graduate assistant Travis Henson, and Jazz Ensemble "A", directed by Dr. Keith Talley, will perform a concert of jazz. Admission is free, and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.            

The Jazz Ensemble "B" concert will feature Cantaloupe Island, Herbie Hancock, arranged by Terry Segress; Captain Cook, by Jerry Nowak; and Running Lion, Doug Beach & George Shutak.

Students in Jazz Ensemble "B" are Keeton Ketchum, Matt Lantz and Ethan Edgar, all of Clinton; Ingrid Simmons and Drew Detherow, both of Weatherford; Matt Powers, Purcell; Amanda Desadier, Walters; Sean Ivins and Sean Wright, both of Moore; Danielle Walker, Deer Creek; R. J. Bickford, Cache; Sable Nellis, Lawton; Beaux Perry, Anadarko; Kasey Shaver, Snyder; Lance Longhorn, Tecumseh; and Cody Ingels, Enid.

The Jazz Ensemble "A" concert will feature big band charts by Grammy-Award winning composers and arrangers Maria Schneider, Bill Holman and Gordon Goodwin. The performance by Jazz Ensemble "A" will include: A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, The Blues Walk, Dance You Monster to My Soft Song, Hunting Wabbits, Bernie's Tune and Take the "A" Train.
