SWOSU Enrollment Up 6.9%

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has the biggest spring semester enrollment in four years on the Weatherford and Sayre campuses.

SWOSU President Randy Beutler said enrollment for the 2010 spring semester is up 6.9% from last spring semester. The overall head count enrollment is 4,911. This is up 316 students from the 2009 spring semester.

SWOSU's enrollment for the 2009 fall semester also had an increase of 3.7%. Beutler, who started February 1 as president of SWOSU, said the positive enrollments are very encouraging.

"SWOSU is a student-centered higher educational institution," Beutler said. "SWOSU is well known for its quality academic programs (15 nationally-accredited academic programs-the most among Oklahoma's regional universities) and we continue to make SWOSU one of the top places for students to succeed."

Even though the spring semester just started, SWOSU is already preparing for enrollment during the 2010 summer and fall semesters. High school seniors are signing up for New Student Orientations on April 2, 13 and 21; June 14, July 22; and August 13. Current SWOSU students will start enrolling on February 8.
