Tickets Now on Sale for Grease at SWOSU

A rock-n-roll party is coming to the SWOSU Hilltop Theatre at Southwestern Oklahoma State University as the Department of Communication/Theatre and Department of Music present the musical Grease on the Weatherford campus.

The production runs March 4-9 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with additional 2 p.m. performances on March 6-7.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for non-SWOSU students, and free for individuals with a valid SWOSU I.D. card. Advance ticket reservations/sales are available through the SWOSU Hilltop Theatre Box Office.  The box office hours are Monday through Friday from 3-6 p.m. The phone number for the box office is 580.774.6046. Seating is limited; therefore, advance tickets/reservations are encouraged.

Steve Strickler, director of the musical, said viewer discretion is advised with this production because it contains subject matter that may be objectionable to some.

Strickler said many people are familiar with the movie version of Grease but unfamiliar with the stage version. While the two scripts are different, they are fairly similar. Strickler said the high-energy of live performers with live musicians is sure to please audiences. Grease-with book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey-involves the Greasers and the Pink Ladies of Rydell High and all their teenaged angst about life and love.

The SWOSU Department of Communication and Theatre and the Department of Music have joined forces to present this production. The music director is Joyce Adams Curtis and the technical director/designer/choreographer is Stephen Haynes.
