SWOSU Faculty Recital Planned Sunday, February 28


The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Department of Music will premiere new music at a faculty recital this Sunday, February 28, on the Weatherford campus.

The 7 p.m. concert in Room 101 of the Berrong Music Hall will feature Dr. David Bessinger, marimba; Dr. Keith Talley, saxophone; Dr. Dennis Widen, piano; and the Chisholm Saxophone Quartet.

Admission is free, and the public is invited.

Members of the Chisholm Saxophone Quartet include: Dr. Keith Talley, soprano saxophone; Joe Fine, alto saxophone; Dr. Heath Jones, tenor saxophone; and Brandon Brady, baritone saxophone.

The recital will feature diverse music including the world premiere of two compositions: Kaitlyn's Waltz for alto saxophone and piano by SWOSU graduate music student Adriel Reynolds and A Saxy Tango for saxophone quartet by University of Central Oklahoma Composer-in-Residence Samuel Magrill. Other pieces on the recital include selections from David Maslanka's Song Book for alto saxophone and marimba; Duo-Dance Song by Gordon Stout for soprano saxophone and marimba; and Out of the Blue by Frank Ticheli for saxophone quartet.
