Tough Enough 5K Run and Walk Planned Saturday at SWOSU


Over 150 runners and 52 student volunteers are already signed up for this Saturday's  (March 27) "Tough Enough Classic 5K Run/Walk" at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. 

The 9 a.m. run/walk will benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Runners and walkers are expected from several states including Kansas, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Entry fee is $35 if pre-registered, and a free brunch will be held after the race/walk. Non-runners/walkers can enjoy the brunch for $5. Race day registration fee is $50. Sign in time this Saturday will start at 7 a.m.

Interested runners/walkers can call 580.774.3767 or stop by Room 214 of the Stafford Center on the SWOSU campus. Checks should be made out to: SWOSU Foundation. This event is sponsored by the SWOSU Collegiate Activities Board, Greek Council, Residence Life, SWOSU Rodeo Team and Weatherford Walking for Wellness Program. The event is also assisted by the Weatherford Hotel/Motel Tax Committee.

Prizes for winners will be Weatherford chamber bucks that can be spent at any participating merchant. Overall first prize winner will receive $250 in chamber bucks, while second place winner will receive $200 in chamber bucks. Third place winner will get $150 in chamber bucks. The top runner/walker in the following age groups will receive $50 in chamber bucks: 15+, 20+, 25+, 30+, 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+ and 65+. Various other prizes will be available.

Every participant will receive a free t-shirt, and the first 200 entries will get goodie bags.
