SWOSU Singers to Present April 16 Concert


The SWOSU Singers will perform "The Polyphony of Winter into Spring" on Friday, April 16, at the First United Methodist Church (817 N. Seventh Street) in Weatherford.

The concert is at 7 p.m. and the public is invited. Admission is free.

Under the direction of Dr. Bonnie Borshay Sneed, the choir will perform works from the Renaissance through modern periods with a focus on compositions that are polyphonically constructed. In addition to their classical repertoire, the choir also will perform lighter music, including Davies' Prayers from the Ark, Pfautsch's Songs Mein Grossmama Sang, and a vocal jazz arrangement of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

Special guests for the concert include SWOSU music faculty Dr. Daniel Farris performing the tenor solo in the Basler Gloria, and instrumentalists Hector Lopez and Tyler Paul.  The choir is accompanied by Janis South, also a member of the SWOSU music faculty.
