Miss Oklahoma to be at Saturday's Miss SWOSU Pageant

Miss Oklahoma 2010 Emoly West

Miss Oklahoma Emoly West will be mistress of ceremonies at this Saturday's (November 13) Miss SWOSU Pageant on the Weatherford campus.

West won the title of Miss Oklahoma 2010 this past June in Tulsa and will be going to the Miss America Pageant this January. As Miss Oklahoma, West is promoting her platform-Leadership and Character Development-to elementary school students as well as the business community.  It is her goal to help people realize how minute-by-minute choices affect their lives and impact the lives of others.

Ten years ago West founded the annual Winter Ball, and she has raised over $58,000 for Oklahoma character-based charities. Also during her early teen years, she discovered Character First, a program she now champions by being a certified character coach and serving as a board member of the Character Council of Edmond.

West is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance with a minor in broadcast journalism.  She began dancing at the age of 4 and has studied ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern and hip hop.

The Miss SWOSU Pageant is this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center and will feature five contestants as well as eight teen contestants and 18 Miss SWOSU Little Star candidates.  Advance tickets are $7 for non-SWOSU students and $5 for SWOSU students.

All tickets at the door are $10. Advance tickets are available in Room 205 of the SWOSU Administration Building and from all contestants.

West will make several appearances on Friday at five Weatherford schools.
