Kelley Jewelers and SWOSU's Phi Delts Teaming Up to Fight ALS

Kelley Jewelers and Phi Delta Theta fraternity at SWOSU are teaming up to raise money to fight Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

On this Monday through Wednesday, February 7-9, Kelley Jewelers in downtown Weatherford will donate $2 for every student with an SWOSU I.D. that comes into Kelley Jewelers. The "Get Out of the Dawg House" charity event will benefit the ALS Association.

Kelley Jewelers will offer prizes and discounts each day including a "Big Event" drawing on Wednesday evening.

Phi Delt member Kyle Johnson said ALS is a form of motor neuron disease. ALS is a progressive, fatal, neurodegenerative disease caused by the degeneration of motor neurons, the nerve cells in the central nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement. The condition is often called Lou Gehrig's disease in North America, named after the famous New York Yankees baseball player who was diagnosed with the disease in 1939.
