Solo and Ensemble Contest Scheduled February 26 at SWOSU


Southwestern Oklahoma State University will host the OSSAA District 3 Solo and Ensemble Contest for junior high and high school students on Saturday, February 26 at 8 a.m. in the Music Building and Fine Arts Center on the Weatherford campus.

There are more than 350 entries from 12 western Oklahoma schools. The schools include: Altus, Anadarko, Cheyenne, Clinton, Cordell, Corn Bible Academy, Elk City, Geary, Guymon, Hinton, Watonga and Weatherford.

SWOSU Music Associate Professor David Bessinger said students will be judged by a panel of five music educators. The students who earn a superior rating will qualify for the state contest.

Judges will be Charles Bartrug of Yukon, Amy Zuback of Edmond, Robert Black of Oklahoma City, David Robison of Piedmont, and Roger Sharp of Mustang.

SWOSU music sorority Tau Beta Sigma will be assisting with the contest.
