SWOSU Organizations Gearing Up for American Cancer Society Event

Even though the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life does not take place until April 15, many Southwestern Oklahoma State University teams in Weatherford are already working hard to prepare and raise money for the fundraising event.

More than 18 SWOSU teams have already registered for the event. Among some of the ongoing activities are:

  • Kappa Epsilon is "flocking" this semester, which means members place tiny pink flamingos in area residents' yards. If they want the flamingos removed, they must donate to Relay for Life. A person can also send the flamingos to a friend's house for an extra donation.
  • The Oklahoma Hall team recently completed a successful bake sale. In addition to the bake sale, they are having "Money Wars" within Oklahoma Hall. Each floor has a goal of $100, and the floor that raises the most money will win free pizza. The women are also selling "Treasure your Chest" t-shirts for $15. Orders can be placed at the front desk in Oklahoma Hall.
  • Several organizations are helping with the 5th annual SWOSU Gold Tough Enough to Wear Pink 5K Classic run/walk that will be held on Saturday, March 26, starting at the Memorial Student Center at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life. Anyone can register for the run/walk that features outstanding prizes. Signup is available at signmeup.com or in the SWOSU Dean of Students Office in Stafford Center 214.
