Four SWOSU Choral Groups to Perform Spring Concert on April 14


Four SWOSU choral groups will perform in concert on Thursday, April 14, on the Weatherford campus.

The 7 p.m. concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center lobby. Admission is free, and the public is invited. 

The four choral groups that will be featured include the Women’s Chorus, Men’s Chorus, Chamber Choir and The Southwestern Singers.

The Women’s Chorus, conducted by Joyce Adams Curtis, will sing Giordano’s O Pastorelle, Addio, Rheinberger’s Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, and Powell’s Ascribe to the Lord. Karena Van Horn and Janis South will accompany the chorus.

The Men’s Chorus, conducted by Daniel Farris, will perform two early Latin works and Domaredansen, a Swedish dance piece by Otto Olsson.

The Chamber Choir, also conducted by Dr. Farris, will feature student conductor Charissa Zoschke in Child’s Where Your Bare Foot Walks and a selection by Edward Elgar.  The Chamber Choir will also perform two Renaissance pieces and a Swingle Singers arrangement of the Beatles song When I’m Sixty-Four.

The Southwestern Singers, conducted by Bonnie Sneed, will be singing various selections including the Agnus Dei from Bernstein’s Mass with guest accompanist Janis South.  Student Emma Grosz will conduct the choir on Dello Joio’s Come To Me My Love.
