Three Honored at Butler Skills Development Center Open House

Two young men received their high school diplomas and one received his General Education Development (GED) certificate during an open house event at the Butler Skills Development Center held recently in Butler.

Jason Baker, director of the center, said the diplomas were awarded by Canute Public Schools Superintendent Mike Maddox and Principal Kevin Merz. Canute Public Schools provides the education component for all SWOSU adventure programs and the skills center.

SWOSU President Randy Beutler made remarks at the ceremony/open house that had in attendance representatives from the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs, SWOSU and area communities.

The Butler Skills Development Center is a site for young men who want to learn a skill like welding or small engine repair. After completing requirements, the students are then placed at various job sites around western Oklahoma.
