Relay for Life Promotional Activities Underway

Thirty-two teams—including 22 affiliated with Southwestern Oklahoma State University—are gearing up for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life that is scheduled for Friday, April 20, on the Weatherford campus, and several promotional activities are underway for the event.

Custer County Relay for Life Event Chair Shelby Unruh said there is room for four more teams so interested parties should contact her.

She said many promotional activities are already underway and $30,000 of fundraising has been collected toward this year’s goal of $87,000.

The Relay Round-Up is this Friday night, March 9, from 5-8 p.m. in the Wellness Center. This fundraising event includes a hamburger dinner, silent auction and activities for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Adult tickets are $10, children ages 3 to 12 are $5, and kids under 3 get in free.

The SWOSU School of Nursing is holding a golf scramble in a fundraising effort for Relay for Life on Saturday, March 17, at Prairie West Golf Course in Weatherford. The 4-man scramble costs $50 per person or $200 per team. Cash payouts will be awarded, along with prizes for closest to the pin on all par 3s.
