SWOSU's 39th Annual Choral Camp Starts June 17

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Music will host its 39th annual Choral Camp on June 17-21 in Weatherford.

The choral camp is open to students who have completed grades 6-12.

According to camp director Dr. Daniel Farris, the camp’s goals are to develop students musically as a solo and ensemble singer through large ensembles, master classes and electives such as music history, theory, jazz choir, choreography, diction and vocal pedagogy. The camp will also prepare Oklahoma students for auditions in the OMEA choir competitions.

Registration will be in the SWOSU Fine Arts Center lobby this Sunday, June 17, from 1-3 p.m.

Farris said late registrations and walk-ins are accepted, but students are encouraged to register as early as possible to ease rooming assignments and preparation.

The final concert for the camp will take place on Thursday, June 21, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium.  Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
