SWOSU's 57th Annual Band Camp Starts Sunday

Around 550 students are expected for Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s 57th annual band camp on the Weatherford campus beginning Sunday, July 8, and running through Friday, July 13.

Oklahoma’s longest-running and largest band camp brings together students from across Oklahoma and Texas. The campers vary in age from seventh graders to high school seniors.

The band camp, sponsored by the SWOSU Department of Music, also employs 70 faculty and 30 staff members. The students will be separated into bands within the camp conducted by the following: Honor Band - Dr. Barry Kraus, Belmont (TN) University; Symphonic Band - Donny Longest, Konawa; Concert Band - Jeramy Haas, Duncan; Cadet Band - David Irby, Bethel; and Prep Band - Todd Baker, Newcastle.

Dr. Keith Talley of the SWOSU Music Department said the camp has great regional support and offers a fun and educational opportunity for the students. All profits from the camp benefit SWOSU music scholarships.
