Rumble and Perkins Coming to SWOSU Parent's Day Activities


Oklahoma City Thunder star Kendrick Perkins and mascot Rumble the Bison will make appearances during Parent's Day activities at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford on Saturday, September 15.

Perkins and Rumble will appear in downtown Weatherford at the 2nd annual Weatherford Wind Fest that is held in conjunction with SWOSU Parent’s Day activities. Perkins will sign autographs/pictures from 11:30-1:30 and Rumble will be in attendance from 10:30-1:30.  

Among the other scheduled activities during the day are a pancake breakfast, tailgate party, an art show at SWOSU, football game and tailgating. Also, SWOSU students will have the opportunity to win one of three $500 scholarships that will be given away.

The scholarships are made possible by participating businesses. Students or family members can register for the scholarship drawing throughout the day at participating businesses. The winners will be announced at halftime of the 6 p.m. football game.

SWOSU tailgating will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. on the west side parking area of Milam Stadium. Everyone is invited. The Bulldog football team will be hosting East Central University in a battle of Great American Conference teams.

The pancake breakfast will be held from 8-10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Student Center University Grill. The fundraising event is sponsored by the SWOSU men’s and women’s basketball teams. Cost is $5 for the all-you-can-eat breakfast, consisting of pancakes, ham steak, coffee and juice. Tickets are available from team members, the SWOSU Athletic Office and will be available at the door.

SWOSU is hosting an art show from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the SWOSU Art Building. Admission is free.

Also, at the Weatherford Wind Fest, there will be activities from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Those activities include live music, a climbing wall with a trampoline, dunk tank, a bouncing castle, face painting and a barbeque cook-off between the Weatherford police and fire departments. Weatherford Wind Fest takes place on Broadway Street between Main and Tom Stafford Streets.
