Chocolate is Theme of this Saturday's SWOSU Tailgate Challenge

SWOSU fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon won first place and $500 in the first week of the SWOSU Tailgate and Cook-off Challenge hosted by SWOSU Residence Life. This Saturday’s challenge has a chocolate theme.

SWOSU’s Residence Life will continue the Tailgate and Cook-off Challenge this Saturday, September 29, prior to the Bulldog football game against Henderson State (AR).

This week’s challenge is a chocolate theme. Teams have the freedom to cook any food involving chocolate. Along with the challenge, ResLife will cook free hot dogs for fans and there will be football related inflatable games starting at 3 p.m. on the west side of Mail Stadium.

ResLife hosts the challenge with the winning team receiving $500.  The second place team gets a $100 gift card. Points are awarded each week and teams keep their top three scores. At the end of the season, the team with the most points wins an additional $1,000.

Ten teams participated in the first week’s challenge. SWOSU fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon won first place with Emmanuel Baptist Church coming in second. Seven of the 10 teams were SWOSU student organizations. Director of Residence Life Chad Martin said he hopes for more than 15 teams in the upcoming weeks.

A cooks meeting is held three hours prior to the cook off each home game so this Saturday’s meeting is at 3 p.m. At least one team member must attend the meeting
