Spanish & English Translation Contest Taking Place at SWOSU

The SWOSU Department of Language and Literature’s Spanish Division is hosting a translation contest with monetary prizes being awarded to the winners.

The contest is open to all full-time SWOSU students, and document packets can be picked up from now until November 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 202 of the Campbell Building. Translations are divided into two categories: Spanish to English and English to Spanish.

The three top performers in each division will be awarded cash in the amount of: first prize, $75; second prize, $30; and third prize, $20. Students may participate in both categories.

Translations must be literally accurate, but the winning entries will also convey the meaning of the original in an artful and polished way. Participants are allowed to use dictionaries only. Translations aids of any other kind are strictly prohibited.

Translations must be turned in to Jo Hill in Room 202 of the Campbell Building by 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28. For more information, contact Dr. Hector Garza at 580.774.3093 or
