SWOSU Mind Games Team Opens Play this Sunday, February 17

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s “Mind Games” team will play its opening match for the 2013 spring semester tourney against Southwestern Christian University this Sunday evening, February 17, at 6 p.m. on KSBI-TV.

SWOSU finished champion runner-up during the 2012 fall semester tourney and won the 2012 spring semester championship title in the Oklahoma academic challenge competition, which is a buzzer quiz game based on knowledge in all academic fields. Sixteen Oklahoma colleges and universities are competing this spring, and students will be competing for scholarship money. SWOSU won $10,750 in scholarship money during the fall semester tourney.

Coach of the SWOSU team is Dr. Fred Gates, who is associate professor of history in the Department of Social Sciences. This is Gates’ first year as coach.

Members of the SWOSU team are returners Zeke Mills, Springfield MO; and Connor Holland, Duncan. Newcomers to the team are Mackenzie Bergagnini, Ponca City; Will Robinson, Canton; and Keegan Coon of Davenport.

If SWOSU wins its opening match, the team will play the winner of East Central University/Northern Oklahoma State College on April 14.
