Metals Workshop and Exhibit with Dr. Sangsook Park Planned at SWOSU

This is an art piece made by Dr. Sangsook Park, who will be exhibiting her metals artwork and presenting a free workshop March 27-28 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The visiting artist program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will host Dr. Sangsook Park on March 27-28 on the Weatherford campus.

Park will exhibit her metals artwork and present a free two-day metals workshop on Wednesday, March 27, from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 28, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.  Her Wednesday morning workshop will provide instruction for making brooches with tins. The Thursday afternoon workshop will focus on coloring techniques for metal (copper).  On Thursday morning, Park will present her metal work as she demonstrates two favorite techniques she has used in her work: fabrication and Kumboo. 

Park received her Ed.D. in art education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her M.F.A. in metals from the University of Washington in Seattle.  She is an assistant professor and area head of the art education program at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  Her research focuses on early childhood and elementary art education, and she has exhibited her metal work in the United States and abroad.
