SWOSU Plans a New Camp Duke

Southwestern Oklahoma State University is starting a new summer camp this year but it’s not your typical summer camp.

Camp Duke will be a three-day camp for any enrolled incoming SWOSU freshmen.

Even though the camp is not mandatory for incoming freshmen, it will provide students with a high energy event featuring several activities, information sessions and student bonding.

New Student Orientation Coordinator Jessica Skinner said the camp is planned July 15-17 on the Weatherford campus. The camp is exclusive to incoming SWOSU freshman who are enrolled or will be enrolled by July 15.

Skinner said the point of the camp is to prepare incoming freshman for their college years in a different way than the university’s formal New Student Orientation sessions. The camp will create friendships, familiarity and comfort with SWOSU and the city of Weatherford.

The camp fee is $150 which includes all meals, two overnight stays, activities and a camp tee shirt. To register visit www.swosu.edu/admissions/nso/camp-duke/index.asp, call 580.774.3233 or email campduke@swosu.edu.
