SWOSU Mind Games Team Advances to Finals


Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s “Mind Games” team will play for the 2013 spring semester championship title this Sunday, May 19, thanks to an impressive 540-180 semifinal win on May 12 over Northeastern State University.

Oklahoma residents can watch SWOSU play Cameron University in the finals this Sunday at 6 p.m. on KSBI-TV.

For winning the semifinal match, SWOSU’s squad won $3,250 in scholarship money.

Mind Games is an Oklahoma academic challenge competition, a buzzer quiz game based on knowledge in all academic fields. Sixteen Oklahoma colleges and universities have competed this spring, and students compete for scholarship money. Games are aired each Sunday on KSBI-TV.

SWOSU finished champion runnerup in the 2012 fall competition and SWOSU won the 2012 spring semester championship title.

Members of the SWOSU team are: Zeke Mills, Springfield MO; Connor Holland, Duncan; Mackenzie Bergagnini, Ponca City; Will Robinson, Canton; and Keegan Coon of Davenport. Coach of the SWOSU team is Dr. Fred Gates, associate professor of history in the Department of Social Sciences.

If SWOSU wins the spring finals this Sunday, the team will play in the Grand Championship Game against the fall semester winner on May 26.
