500 Plus Already Signed Up for SWOSU Band Camp


Southwestern Oklahoma State University's Department of Music will host its 58th annual Band Camp on July 7-12, and over 500 students have already signed up for the camp on the Weatherford campus.

The camp is open to students who have completed grades 6-12.  Registration will be in the SWOSU Fine Arts Center lobby on Sunday, July 7, from 1-4 p.m.

Over 70 experienced and talented music directors from across the region will assist Camp Director Dr. Keith Talley and other SWOSU music faculty in teaching classes and rehearsals at the camp. The camp will consist of five concert bands, two jazz ensembles and over 30 elective classes.

Conducting the concert bands will be: Honor Band, Gary Gackstatter, St. Louis, MO; Symphonic Band, Teresa Segress, Ft. Smith, AR; Concert Band, Robert Anderson, Enid; Cadet Band, Steve Smith, Cordell; and Prep Band, Jimmy Polk, Kemp, TX.

The final concert for the camp will take place on Friday, July 12, at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium.  No admission will be charged for the concert and the public is invited to attend.
