SWOSU Jazz A Heads to Block Party in Elk City


SWOSU's Jazz Ensemble A will perform this Saturday, September 21, in Elk City as part of the 1st Presbyterian Block Party.

The family-friendly event starts at 4 p.m. and will include live music, kid’s activities, a four category bake off, and a variety of foods for sale.  

Jazz A will perform beginning at 6 p.m.  

The performance kicks off the year for Jazz A, which along with Jazz B, will have their first home concert on Thursday, September 26, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Music will include such standards as "Shiny Stockings" by Count Basie in addition to newer charts like Wayne Bergeron's arrangement of "Friend like me" and Gordon Goodwin's "Mueva los Huesos".  

Jazz A and Jazz B are under the direction of Dr. Richard Tirk and graduate student Evan Neal.
