SWOSU Mind Games Team in Action this Sunday


Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s “Blue” Mind Games team will attempt to join the SWOSU “White” team in the semifinals of the Mind Games competition this Sunday, December 1, when the Blue team faces Oklahoma City University “Blue.”

The Oklahoma collegiate academic competition is aired weekly on KSBI-TV in Oklahoma City and this Sunday’s match starts at 6:30 p.m.

Members of the SWOSU Blue team are: Connor Holland, Duncan; Mackenzie Bergagnini, Ponca City; Jessi Goetzinger, Edmond (North); and Thomas Blakely, Enid. Coach is Dr. Fred Gates, professor of history at SWOSU.

The SWOSU “White” team has already made the semifinals with its quarterfinal victory over Cameron University and will face the winner of the SWOSU “Blue”/OCU “Blue” match on December 15.

The students compete for scholarship money provided by The Chickasaw Nation and Oklahoma Energy Resources Board.

SWOSU is the defending champs of Mind Games, hosted by Jenifer Reynolds. SWOSU has fared well in the competition since it began in 2011. SWOSU won the 2012-13 grand championship title, and SWOSU won the 2013 and 2012 spring semester titles as well as finishing runnerup during the 2012 fall semester.
